Sometimes I get the sense that if we really tried, we could turn Oppo into like the 3rd largest concentration of Ruxton fans in the world and most active website covering them, which is either sad, hilarious, or frightening.

definitely. There's you, me, Laird Andy right? That's three right there, we must be in the top ten already

I think with a dash of persuasion there's like a half dozen other semi-fans of Ruxton as well.

I would be a fan of Ruxton if I knew what it was.

Ruxton was a contemporary of Cord, in being a FWD luxury brand of the US. It had a number of interesting features, one of which being the multi-tone paint jobs, one being the Woodlight headlights also seen on some Cords, and a very low floor - being FWD, the frame and other elements were designed so that the Ruxton was much lower than pretty much any other cars of the period, both ride and roof height.

The best comparison might not actually be to Cord, but to the Citroen Traction Avant, particularly with the modified body structure to take advantage of the FWD, and the dropped running boards.
If it had been any cheaper, it might have enjoyed greater success like the TA did.

How relatively expensive was the Traction Avant?

Upper middle class. It started in a middling French tax bracket and graduated to a higher one with an increase in engine size. On checking Wikipedia, it turns out that development costs from the TA bankrupted Citroen in the short term and forced sale to Michelin in '34, so however well the TA succeeded longer term, it appears it's more similar to the Ruxton than I thought.
Its engine actually was a forerunner of the one that went into the DS.
